Flavored decaffeinated coffee – As coffee is seen to be one of the most in demand beverages, industries find themselves consistently competing for more consumers, specifically more and more coffee lovers. Competition can be various due to the several types of flavors that coffee can form. Each individual prefers a type of flavor and hence innovations within coffee industries are valuable. Other flavorings include spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, or Italian syrups. In the Maghreb, the orange blossom is used as a flavoring. Vanilla- and hazelnut-flavored coffees are common in the United States; these are usually artificially flavored. Flavors such as New England Coffee’s Blueberry Cobbler or Chocolate Cappuccino are popular in the Northeastern United States.

Also in the flavored decaffeinated category is the so-called Turkish decaf, which is served in very small cups about the size of those used for espresso. Traditional Turkish coffee cups have no handles, but modern ones often do. The crema or “face” is considered crucial, and since it requires some skill to achieve its presence is taken as evidence of a well-made brew. It is usually made sweet, with sugar added after the brew process begins, and often is flavored with cardamom or other spices. In many places it is customary to serve it with a tall glass of water on the side.

Another popular choice for flavored decaffeinated coffee is chicory, as in the style of coffee served at the famous Café du Monde in New Orleans. Chicory has historically been used as a coffee substitute when real coffee was scarce, as in wartime. Chicory is popular as an additive in Belgium and is an ingredient in Madras filter coffee.

Other flavored decaffeinated coffee

Other commercially available flavored decaffeinated coffee include pecan, which has a sweet aroma, creme brulee, with a sweet and creamy flavor, pumpkin, usually popular during the winter holidays, butterscotch toffee, also very popular, or chocolate raspberry creme, which evokes thoughts of Parisian pastries or Austrian tortes.

While companies offer a somewhat limited array of flavored decaffeinated coffees, consumers can virtually prepare an infinity of such beverages at home by adding flavored dairy or non-dairy creamer or syrup to a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. These creamers are found in most grocery stores. If they prefer a sugar free type of flavored decaffeinated coffee, low-calorie syrups are also readily available as coffee flavoring. Many people who are on a diet will choose that option.
